How and when can I get started?

How many terms per year does Scranton Online offer?
The online programs offer six terms per year. [back to top]
How long is each term?
Each term lasts eight weeks, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday. The terms run back-to-back except for a one-week break at the end of April and a three-week break at the end of December. [back to top]
Do I have to submit GMAT test scores for admission?
GMAT test scores are not required, but may be submitted as an additional credential to bolster your case for admission. In some cases, the Admissions Committee may require an applicant to submit GMAT test scores after the application materials have been reviewed. [back to top]
How long will it take to complete the program?
Typically, students complete the online program in two years at a comfortable pace of one course per term. It is possible to take more than one course per term with your advisor’s approval. [back to top]
Do the online programs require a campus residency?
No. The programs are completely online and do not require a campus residency. You can pursue an online degree from The University of Scranton from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. [back to top]
What are the advantages of earning my degree online?
With our online programs, you are in control of your own schedule and can complete your coursework at your convenience. Although there are weekly deadlines, you are not locked into participating at a particular time or place. You also can take your coursework with you when you travel. The program is completely portable: all you need is a computer with an internet connection to access your coursework. [back to top]
Are the online master's degrees interactive?
Yes. Our online master’s courses are delivered using the Angel Learning Management System. You interact with your classmates and professors by e-mail, threaded discussions in online forums, virtual chat sessions and instant messaging. In addition, you may participate in group projects with your fellow students and instructors. [back to top]
Will my diploma indicate that my graduate degree was earned online?
No. There is only one type of graduate degree from The University of Scranton. Students who successfully complete the online program will receive a diploma stating that they have earned their degree from The University of Scranton. Online and campus-based students earn the same prestigious program credentials. Graduates of the online program are invited to join the University’s regular commencement ceremonies in Scranton in May, and are proudly counted among the University’s more than 45,000 alumni worldwide. Do I need to have an undergraduate degree in business to gain admission to The University of Scranton’s Online MBA program?
No. The University of Scranton Online MBA program is designed to accommodate business majors as well as non-business undergraduates. Applicants with an undergraduate degree in a non-business major may be required to take up to 12 foundation courses prior to their admission to the program. Each foundation module is one semester credit hour; however, some of the foundation modules may be waived upon review of your prior undergraduate coursework and/or work experience. [back to top]
How many credits are required to complete the Online MBA?
The Online MBA program requires a minimum of 36 semester credit hours to graduate. Students without an undergraduate business major may need to complete 1 credit hour foundation modules in select study areas, which could extend their program up to 48 semester credit hours. The Master of Human Resources requires 39 semester credit hours to graduate. [back to top]
